So...About that 3-4...

So I'm typing this as I prepare for a trip to Atlanta. Yes, I got long enough off work to go out of the state. Shut up about it.

Week 1 of Power 90 3-4 is over and I really only have one thing to say: FUCK WIDE-TRI-DIE!!!!!!

What is this "wide-tri-die" that has made me curse in a blog that I wanted to keep family-friendly? I think you can guess by this point. Yep, push-ups are back with a vengeance. How much of a vengeance? Well, remember those "7-7-7s" from Sculpt 1-2? Change that last set of 7 standard push-ups into as many as you can crank out under explosive power and you have wide-tri-die.

With the exception of the last round of Sculpt 3-4, it's mostly just more of the same. Decline push-ups (which basically amounts to me doing them on my toes instead of my knees) replace the first set from 1-2, five sets of lunges (and lunge-squat-lunge) instead of three, and 15-15-15 squats instead of 8-8-8 make up the major differences.

The slight changes don't really matter; what does matter is that they kicked my ass. (Yeah, now that this blog has gone from a "E" to "T" rating, I don't care about the cursing anymore.) Until the last circuit...

Now, I'm not saying that it didn't kick my ass, because it did. Completely obliterated it. Left me passed out on the floor, too tired to even turn the DVD player off. I can only guess what people doing their first round of the "X" feel like.

The last round of Sculpt 3-4 is...well, I'll bring Leela back to explain it for you:

upright rows (8-15)
max-out on squats
forearm work : forearm curls for 20, then wrist curls for 20
back extensions (hold for 5 seconds. do five of these)
max push-ups

Picking up bowling balls (or as I call them, my "work weights") that range from 6 to 16 pounds after that is pretty painful after all those damn push-ups!!!

Sweat 3-4, on the other hand, is pretty easy. Add another round to everything except kicks (which sucks since they're my favorite) from 1-2, and you pretty much have it.

See you again in ten days for Day 60 stats and measurements.
